How To Look After Your Skin During Winter

Posted by on

In the winter months the temperature drops, which can make your skin dry and flaky on a constant basis. Follow our top tips on how to look after your skin during winter.

Have Lukewarm Showers

Instead of a piping hot shower, opt for a lukewarm shower. Having water too hot can dry out the skin too quickly. Use NEUÚ Invigorate Hair & Body Wash in the shower to help wash away dead skin cells and keep your skin moisturised and feeling fresh.

Moisturise Your Skin Regularly

After taking a shower or a bath in the evenings, ensure you moisturise your skin regularly.  According to Britta Aragon from Be Well ‘Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin.’ This will ensure that your skin stays smooth and keeps dry skin at bay. Use NEUÚ Hydrate Moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and soft.

Protect Your Skin from The Cold

As the winter days are usually cold with biting winds and freezing rain that can soak through your skin, it is best to keep your skin protected from the extreme changes in weather. Wearing a hat, scarf and gloves will keep the winter chill away from your body, while keeping your skin protected from going red and chill burned with the cold.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

While we often prefer hot drinks during winter such as coffee and hot chocolate, it is important to continue drinking water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside. Taking the optimum 8 glasses of water every day will help look your skin during winter. Add lemon or mint to your water to make it a more refreshing drink.

Remove Dead Skin Cells

It is just as important to remove the dead hard skin as it is to moisturise your skin during winter. The cold weather can cause a build-up of hard skin on your body. Exfoliate the skin using an exfoliating mask or face scrub to help the skin slough off the dead, hard skin. NEUÚ Renew Face Scrub is made with protein-rich seaweed husk which removes dead skin cells effectively while gentle on your skin.

Avoid Allergens and Irritants

If you suffer with sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis, it is best to avoid irritants or allergens that can affect your skin during winter. ‘Winter skin is more fragile, so avoid irritating fabrics (like wool) and chemical-laden detergents, and use mild cleansers and moisturisers designed for sensitive skin’ advises Britta Aragon from Be Well. Use NEUÚ Energise Face Wash to gently cleanse your skin from irritants and toxins to restore your skin’s natural balance.
